Your doctor or healthcare practitioner may request a consultation in order to further evaluate an issue that you or your child may be experiencing. Dr. Scalfano will gather the information from the referring healthcare professional, evaluate the patient, and then help formulate a plan or initiate treatment. We will communicate with you and the referring provider throughout each step of the process. Issues that we commonly are consulted on include menstrual disorders, unexpected weight fluctuations, eating disorders, sports injuries (including concussions and overuse injuries), hormonal acne, and other issues commonly seen in adolescents and young adults.

We offer the convenience of a video visit with less compromise than many telehealth visits. For starters, you see YOUR doctor, not a generic provider assigned by the insurance company. Dr. Scalfano has developed effective techniques which allow a more thorough virtual exam and assessment. The nurse meets you at the beginning of your visit (just as in the office) to review vital signs, medications, and allergies before your visit with the doctor. There are 30 minutes reserved for your visit so you can be assured that your concerns will be addressed. Any prescriptions, lab or radiology orders are sent electronically or by secure fax to the facility of your choice. School/work excuses are provided. All instructions and details are visible to you in your chart portal app.

We provide an extensive 1-hr long medical evaluation for patients who are struggling with issues of attention or processing or for those who are are underperforming academically. Dr. Scalfano takes the time to review any formal assessments which have been done. She listens to parent and patient and, after a thorough assessment, helps develop a plan that is agreeable to all. A letter communicating diagnosis and accommodations with the patient’s school will be written, if appropriate.
